South African National Flair Competition



South African National Flairtending Championship 2008, which took place at News Cafe Northriding on Saturday night, 7 June 2008. The winner, Travis, wins an all-expenses-paid trip to Puerto Rico in October to take part in the World Championships. Flare Winner is Travis Kuhn from Cape Town.

National Classic Cocktail Competition
With qualification for the IBA World Championships at stake, the best of South Africa's professional bartenders recently met at Johannesburg's Coca Cola Dome to compete in the National Classic Cocktail Competition. Among the six finalists were three representatives from premium bar services and training company, Barcode, including eventual winner and Key Training Officer at the Barcode Academy, Ryan Duvenage.

Founders of The Bartenders Workshop Etienne and Kurt Schlechter fly the flag for South Africa at the 2008 International Bartenders Association World Flairing and Cocktail Competition in Puerto Rico.

This prestigious event comes but once a year for the best mixologists and flairtenders of the world who compete for the highest honor in the bartending industry, to be crowned 'King of the Cocktail'.

Glass: chilled Martini
Ingredients:
12 fresh Raspberries
25ml Stolichnaya Rasberi
6.25ml Chambord
25ml Cranberry juice
Garnish: Raspberry
Method: Muddle raspberries in base of shaker. Add other indredients, shake with ice and strain into ice filled glass
